I LOVE art and am always looking for artists/photographers to feature on my blog.
Today, I am so honored to be featuring none other than Rob Decker!
About the artist:
ABOUT ROB DECKER AND THE NATIONAL PARK POSTER PROJECT
My name is Rob Decker. I’m a photographer and graphic artist — with a single great passion for our National Parks. And, I’ve been exploring and photographing them for more than 50 years!
Many people have influenced me over the years — my parents were avid travelers and photographers. And my grandfather started photographing the national parks about 100 years ago.
I visited my first park, Yosemite, in 1965, when I was only 6 years old.
And, I started photographing them when I was just 8 in 1967, on a 10,000-mile cross-country trip. I visited 5 national parks, and photographed them with this Kodak Duaflex camera with 120 black and white roll film — and I was hooked! My grandfather gave me a 1945 Graphlex 4×5 camera and we built a wet darkroom in the back of my dad’s workshop in the early 70s.
I spent the next 10 years immersed in black & white photography, including four years on the high school yearbook staff…three as head photographer. During that time, I did a lot of independent production work. And my friend Kurt and I operated a successful portrait photography business for several years. After graduating in 1977, I made another epic, 10,000-mile cross country trip, visiting the Grand Canyon, Carlsbad Caverns, Shenandoah, Great Smoky, Acadia, Glacier, and several other National Parks. This artist’s prints blew me away! The wide variety is truly marvelous! I was sent 4 posters to review: Grand Canyon, Great Smokey Mountains, Mount Rushmore, and America’s National Parks.
The scale and clarity of these images/prints amazed me! Also, these shots are so unique and are not something you’d find in your “Google Images” search results.
Rob offers a wide variety of posters, canvas prints, artist proofs, and postcards so there truly is something for everyone and every budget. And, if you don’t know what print to get someone, you can get them a gift card to Rob’s shop so they can choose for themselves!
I cannot wait to hang these up in the guest bathroom and see people’s thoughts! I know they will love them and inquire about where I got my hands on them! 🙂
Rob is no stranger to the world of prints and all things artistic! He’s been featured on CNN Travel, Newsweek, and Reader’s Digest, to name a few!
I am so appreciative of the opportunity to collaborate with Rob and bring his prints to you guys. Nature is such a beautiful thing and Rob’s ability to capture it in a timeless and elegant way that crosses over so many genres of art and preference is so admirable. I cannot wait to see further developments from him!
