Scriptures For When You’re Angry

Let’s face it.

We all get angry.

Anger is not pretty and can lead to not only a stressed out life, but it can effect your relationships with your friends, family, and most of all, God.

We can get angry over little things, like the weather not letting us go outside for a walk due to rain. Or something bigger like a time of financial struggle or health issues. When things don’t go how we think they should, we (as humans), get angry.

Today, I wanted to delve into the “world of anger” and share some scriptures I turn to when I feel mad or resentful towards something or someone in my life.

“Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.” -Ephesians 4:13 (NIV)

Better a patient person than a warrior, one with self-control than one who takes a city.”  -Proverbs 16:32 (NIV)

“For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!”             -Romans 5:10 (NIV)

What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God.”    -James 4:1-2 (NIV)

A hot-tempered person stirs up conflict, but the one who is patient calms a quarrel.”        -Proverbs 15:18 (NIV)

“But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.” -Colossians 3:8 (NIV)

My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. -James 1:19-20 (NIV)

I know I included a few more than I normally do in these posts, but I just felt like they all applied and I couldn’t narrow it down anymore. I hope you guys enjoyed this post and hopefully it gave you a sense of peace. I know these verses do just that, and more, for me ❤

Have a wonderful day, y’all!

Question time:

What do you do to calm your anger?

What verse is your favorite?
