Seven Scriptures For Easter

Easter is a holiday that represents so many differents things for so many different people.

For some it represents the start of Spring; for some it means running around like crazy trying to put together a last minute Easter basket; for some it means celebrating Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection.

For me, it means all of the above.

As a Christian, I find two holidays that are closest to my heart; Christmas and Easter.

One celebrates the birth of my Savior, the other celebrates the day He gave His life for mine.

I used to find Easter a sad holiday, but now I rejoice on that day with gratitude. Jesus chose to die for my sins and He didn’t want me to feel guilt, but freedom. Not shamefulness, but honored to be set free.

Today I’m going to be sharing a few of my favorite scriptures that are relevant to Easter. Remember we’re not celebrating Jesus’ death; we’re celebrating His life and service on earth. He is risen and He is alive in each and every one of us!

Romans 4:25 (NIV) –

“He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.”

1 Peter 1:3-7 (NIV) –

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.”

John 11:25-26 (NIV) –

“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?’”

Romans 8:11 (NIV) –

“And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.”

Romans 8:34 (NIV) –

“Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.”

Isaiah 53:5 (NIV) –

“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.”

Job 19:25 (NIV) –

“I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth.”

I know not everyone celebrates Easter in the Biblical sense, but I hope these verses were a token of encouragement for some of you out there. Whether you’re a Christian or believe in a higher power or not, just know that there is someone out there that truly loves you. You weren’t put on this earth by accident. You were chosen and you are worth so, so much!

Happy Easter, my friends ❤
