Buenos dias, mi amigos!
Today I’m going to be doing another “Day In The Life” post. I haven’t done one of these in a super long time and my life has changed quite a bit since my last one.
So, if you’re curious to see what a day in the life of a home-schooled, coffee drinking, Chihuahua kissing, senior in high school is like, keep on reading! –>
8:48 A.M – I wake up and consider getting up early for about 1.5 seconds and decide to go back to sleep.
9:30 A.M – My alarm goes off and the day officially begins. I feed and give fresh water to my hamster. Then I take my doggy outside.
Fun fact: It was SUPER windy this morning and Piper (my 6 pound dog) could hardly stand up. Also, I had to go on a wild goose chase into the neighbors yard to retrieve our trashcans. Quite the morning, eh?
9:38 A.M. – We’re back inside and Edye is ready for her coffee. I have my mom play with Piper while I get the coffee maker rolling. Once my cup is brewed I collect my pooch and head to my “office” to check some emails.
10:03 A.M. – I step away from my laptop and head to the kitchen to make me some breakfast. Breakfast is my biggest and most favorite meal of they day. I had my usual oatmeal, banana, and a couple pieces of 100% whole wheat toast.
10:40 A.M – Breakfast is down. Now I brush my teeth, get out of my pajamas, fix my hair, and head back to my office. Piper has her breakfast and dinner the same time I do.
Here is where my day will vary. I will work on whatever needs to be done first. Today, I tried to catch up on my (almost) 300 emails. Then, I went on to studying for my American Literature exam; and occasionally took a 5 minute break to work on this blog post.
I do this for for three solid hours; with a candle burning of course!
1:45 P.M. – Lunch time is here! I have my classic cinnamon raisin bagel (burned just slight of a crisp) and an orange.
2:00 P.M. – I re-brush my teeth, take my B12 supplement, and attempt to take my dog outside.
Notice I said “attempt”?
Yeah. The wind is still SO strong that it about blew my dog and I over. Needless to say we were back inside in like 2.5 seconds.
2:15 P.M. – Back to my office; I swear I live here guys. I really should put in a futon, ha! I check what emails came in during the past few hours and add a couple pictures to this post.
2:30 P.M – Back to the books. I finished Nathaniel Hawthorne’s “Young Goodman Brown” and really liked his writing. It’s kind of poetic, and although it was a little confusing at times, I really enjoyed the story.
3:30 P.M – These past few weeks I’ve been bitten by the cooking bug. I think a futon might need to go in the kitchen too! I cannot help myself, I just love trying new recipes.
Today I’m making Tuscan Chicken Soup! I found it in Redbook magazine and thought I’d give it a whirl. I’m making this ahead for my mom and grandma to have for dinner tonight. I’ll leave it on the stove and they can heat it up whenever they wish.
I give myself lots of time to prep this meal. I usually stick to slow cooker recipes; so I’m not in my wheelhouse today… We’ll see how this goes!
4:25 P.M. The chicken has to cook for 25 minutes in the oven. While it’s doing its thing I grab my headphones and sneak in a quick workout.
4:45 P.M. – Workout done! I mainly did some cardio and leg raises (my fav workout move!)
4:50 P.M. – I’m back in the kitchen and the chicken is done. I finish up the recipe and leave it for my family to enjoy!
5:35 P.M – Since I don’t eat meat, I didn’t have any of the soup I made. But, I wanted something easy yet yummy. So, I had some vegetable meatballs and carrots! It might sounds really gross to some, but I promise it is SO good. The meatballs I had were from IKEA! Who knew a furniture store could have such yummy food?!
6:00 P.M – Food is eaten and the dishes are washed. I head back to my office (duh!) and work on more blog/email stuff. I listen to some music and work, work, work.
6:45 P.M. – Making time for Jesus is something that I am trying to prioritize even more. Tonight I read more of 1 Kings. Reading my Bible gives me such peace and hope for the future.
7:00 P.M. I paint my nails while watching some Netflix. Multitasking game strong.
8:00 P.M. Time to take a shower! This is one of my favorite times of day because I love the feeling of warm water. Please tell me I’m not alone?!
8:25 P.M. – I’m out of the shower and feel refreshed. I stop by the family room and watch a couple minutes of whatever they’re watching. We chat for a few minutes.
9:00 P.M – I grab be a little Nature Valley bar for a dessert/sweet treat and read some of my magazines. I have so many subscriptions you guys; I think my mail lady officially hates me.. 😉
10:00 P.M – My magazines have been read, emails have been checked, and the next day’s blog post scheduled. Time to go to my bed!
I don’t actually go to sleep yet; I can be quite the night owl. I normally sit and chat with my mom. We talk about our day, play with Piper, I show my mom some funny things I recently found online, snack on popcorn or fresh fruit, etc.
About 11:30 – Midnight I finally feel sleepy and decide to hit the hay. I plug in all my electronics for the night also check in on my pets one last time.
Off to dream land!
If you guys read this whole post, you’re truly amazing! My life isn’t that exciting, but I thought it would be nice to do an updated version of this post.
Question time:
Do you have any magazine subscriptions?
What is your favorite kind of soup?
Thanks for sharing your day! I wish I was as healthy as you are. That soup looks so yummy. Very cool post Edye!

Hi Edye! I have a question for you. Why don’t you eat meat? I’m usually not one to ask but I found it interesting that you were comfortable with preparing meat for your family. But you didn’t take part in eating it. Again, not judging at all but asking out of curiosity.
And you’re certainly not alone in loving warm water. It’s amazing!

Hi, Julia! I’m so glad you stopped by! To answer your question; I stopped eating meat about a year ago mainly for ethical reasons.
However, I do think when I was in the heart of my eating disorder I leaned on my vegetarianism for a sense of control. But, now that I’m in a better place and have sought out counsel from others, I’ve decided to continue the lifestyle as long as I’m getting the nourishment in other aspects of my diet.
My family doesn’t have my same views on that topic and I respect their decision. I love cooking and since I grew up eating meat, it doesn’t bother me to prepare it for others.
Have a marvelous weekend ❤
